Marco Guanilo
Owner & Master RKC Instructor
Marco Guanilo is the owner and director of RKC in the United States and the owner of Momentum Fitness in NYC, which he opened on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in 2010. Coaching since 2001, his approach centers on quality movement, practical strength, and helping people stay capable and active throughout their lives.
Marco began coaching kettlebells in 2011, when he earned his first RKC certification. He advanced through the leadership ranks before becoming a Master RKC Instructor in January 2026. Later that year, he took over ownership of RKC in the United States, carrying forward the organization that helped shape his own development as a coach.
Working alongside the Board of Masters, Marco leads the continued development of the HKC and RKC curriculum, with an emphasis on clear progressions, effective coaching, and education that instructors can put to work immediately. His goal is to preserve the standards and community that built the RKC while creating more opportunities for instructors to learn, connect, and grow.
Dan John
Master RKC Instructor
Director of the Board of Masters
Dan John has spent more than sixty years lifting heavy things and trying to figure out why people make fitness so complicated. A former All-American discus thrower, Highland Games athlete, and Olympic lifter, Dan somehow turned throwing stuff and picking up iron into a career as a coach, teacher, and author.
He’s written books like Intervention, Can You Go?, and Now What?, each one trying (again) to answer the age-old question: “Why aren’t people doing the simple stuff that actually works?” Known for reducing tangled training ideas into plain English—usually with a story about coaching, parenting, or his own spectacular mistakes
—Dan travels the world teaching workshops that mix humor, insight, and a healthy dose of common sense.
When he’s not coaching or writing, you’ll find him in Utah, gardening, lifting, reading, and trying to keep up with his grandkids—who’ve already outpaced his speed but haven’t quite beaten his deadlift. Yet.
